Badugi poker apparently came from Asia and is becoming more and more popular in the rest of the world as well as in online Poker Rooms.
Badugi poker is a variation of lowball Poker, played with four cards instead of five and played with three draws.
Badugi is not a very difficult poker game to learn. One thing that differs a Badugi style poker is the fact that suits have significants in hand ranks.
Although there is no suit rank order, most importantly the objective is to have all different suits in the hand - ie: Ace of clubs - 2 of spades - 3 of diamonds and 4 of hearts.
Online Poker Badugi - Betting rules
- Limit - All bets in the Poker Room are preset, for example: $10/$20 limit. On the first two rounds the players at the online poker room might bet the low level bet (here $10), and in the couple of last rounds, Online Poker players can bet low or high value bets.
- Pot Limit - Players can bet or raise any amount in an Online Poker betting round. Starting at the minimum bet which is equal to the big blind and up to the amount in the pot.
Badugi Poker Room - Blinds
Badugi uses blind methods like Texas Hold'em poker. The Poker player to the left of the dealer button pays the small blind (half of the low stake), and the one to his left pays the big blind (equal to the low stake).
Badugi Poker Room- Dealing Badugi
The cards are being dealt in a clockwise direction starting with the small blind. Each Online Poker player gets one card at a time until all players have four cards.
Badugi - First betting round
After 4 cards have been dealt, the first betting round starts. The first Online Poker player to act is the big blind, the betting round keeps going clock wise, each player is required to raise, call, check or fold. After all players have acted, the first draw takes place.
Badugi - First draw round
Each player, starting with the one sitting to the left of the online poker dealer button, can choose from zero to four cards to discard and get new ones, keeping the other ones. Drawing no cards is called "Standing Pat".
Badugi - Second betting round and draw round
A second betting round is just like the first round. Starting from the player sitting to the left of the button, each Online Poker player clockwise takes his bet. Than after the second betting round takes place, following the same rules as the first one, still using low stakes.

The third betting round is similar to the former ones, only this time high stakes are in use. The following draw round is similar to his formers as well, remembering that discards cards are being reshuffled.

The final betting round in the Badugi Poker Room is similar to the third one, using high stakes. Finally if there is more than one poker player left in the game it leads to a showdown.
Badugi hand
If you have four cards from four different suites and four different ranks - you have a Badugi!! The best Badugi hand is Ace, 2, 3, 4 all from different suits. Badugies are not easy to get, if you don't have a Badugi you might have a three, two or even one card hand.
